I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado (License #5621).
I have a BA from Mount Holyoke College, in South Hadley, MA. I graduated in 1998 with a major in Geology.
I diverted myself from science and into the mental health field because of the impact my father’s death had on me when I was 21. Life took on a new meaning for me then, and I followed my interest in psychology and counseling, towards Naropa University, in Boulder.
I have an MA in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology, with an emphasis in Wilderness Therapy, from Naropa.
My experience includes working with at-risk teens as an Expedition Therapist at Catherine Freer Wilderness Programs in Oregon; as a Grief Counselor at local hospice organizations; and with LGBTQ-identified youth in Boulder County Public Health’s OASOS Program. I am a co-founder of the non-profit organization called Home O’ Hope, which is working to create a safe and affirming group home for LGBT-identified youth in the Colorado state foster care system.
I have specialized training in attachment work from a somatic perspective, grief companioning, and grief and loss work with young adults ages 18 – 24.
I have a few passions in my work with people, and one lies in helping people to find their inner truths, and to live into these truths with courage and confidence. Another is in helping couples to relate more deeply and to evolve through conflicts or stuck places that are preventing growth in the relationship. I believe that relationships can be some of the greatest teachers in life, and that if we choose to take advantage of this opportunity, our life path with another person can become a spiritual journey, and above all else, fun. Additionally, my personal experience with grief and loss has been a tremendous teacher. We all experience grief at one point or another in our life times, and the wisdom that can arise from confronting this dark and uncomfortable place can have a profound impact on our perspective on life. To be witness to this metamorphosis is, in my eyes, a gift.
